On April 25-29, 2022, Gubkin University, with the support of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, hosted the International Forum «Oil and Gas – 2022», which brought together over 2,000 scientists, specialists and students of the fuel and energy complex.
«The International Oil and Gas Forum, which unites a number of significant industry events, is deservedly one of the authoritative events among the professional and academic communities. It is especially worth noting the organizers' focus on actively involving the younger generation in solving the most pressing industry tasks, creating new technologies and materials, digitalizing the fuel and energy sector and the economy as a whole. Ensuring the energy security of the state, developing the domestic energy market, realizing export potential and diversifying it taking into account future changes in the energy balance, creating effective and competitive domestic technologies, equipment and digital products are key tasks of the fuel and energy complex, the successful solution of which will largely depend on the synergy of purposeful and creative youth and leading specialists and scientists» - Alexander Novak, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, noted in his welcoming address at the opening of the forum.
One of the main events of the forum was the panel session «The Future of Energy: new development trends and the role of the oil and gas sector», which was attended by Anatoly Yanovsky, Assistant to the Head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation, Natalia Kaspersky, President of the InfoWatch Group of Companies, Viktor Martynov, Rector of Gubkin University, Alexey Malyutin, Director for Strategic Initiatives Development of Gazprom Neft PJSC and Alexander Ishkov, Deputy Head of the Gazprom PJSC Department. The key topics of the session were the development and implementation of innovative domestic solutions for the needs of the country's fuel and energy complex, import substitution of equipment and technologies in the oil and gas industry and the role of the scientific community in this process, digitalization of industries and the economy, information security of industrial facilities, as well as new trends in education in order to train specialists to respond to those challenges, which are currently facing industries and the state as a whole. During the discussion, it was noted that, depending on specific segments, the share of domestic equipment in Russia's leading oil and gas companies is 80% and there are plans to achieve one hundred percent performance. Continuing the thought, the speakers agreed that in the current situation there is a strengthening of ties and interaction between the academic and business communities.
The discussion on the integration of science and business, especially taking into account the need to develop and implement their own technologies and digital solutions, was continued at a closed meeting with Gazprom Group organizations. At the beginning of the event, in the format of signing cooperation agreements, the agreements already reached by Gubkin University on mutually beneficial cooperation in the scientific and educational sphere were consolidated. So, within the framework of the event, agreements were signed with Gazprom Transgaz Tomsk LLC, Gazprom Automation PJSC, Krasnoyarsk Gazprom-Neftegazproekt LLC., as well as the developments of university scientists that can be introduced into the industry in order to strengthen the import dependence of the Russian energy complex.
The key aspects of the activities of oil and gas industry organizations were discussed in more detail at the thematic sessions of the All-Russian Scientific and Technical Conference «Current Problems of the development of the oil and gas complex», which since 2021 has become an integral part of the forum and gathers leading specialists, scientists and experts of the fuel and energy sector on its site. Within the framework of ten panel sessions, issues of exploration and production of hard-to-recover and unconventional hydrocarbon reserves, improving the efficiency of production, transportation and storage of oil and gas, import substitution of equipment and technologies in the fuel and energy sector, digitalization of business processes, talent management and integrated security of critical infrastructure were considered.
One of the landmark youth events of the forum was the final of the VI Contest for the best Russian student scientific society of the oil and gas industry, the theme of which this year was defined as «Digital Fuel and Energy Sector - 2035». Student associations of industrial and technical universities of the country presented their results for the year of work and the solution of the case on the designated topic. In a stubborn struggle, according to the decision of the jury, the best student scientific association was recognized by the student scientific society of Gubkin University, the second was the team of the Irkutsk National Research Technical University, the third was the Tyumen Industrial University. The authors of the best works were awarded with special prizes and certificates for internships in leading companies of the fuel and energy complex.
