Results of the International Youth Scientific Conference «Oil and Gas - 2013»

On april 9-12, 2013 in Moscow at the National Research University National University of Oil and Gas «Gubkin University» hosted the 67th International Youth Scientific Conference «Oil and Gas - 2013». The event was supported by leading oil and gas companies: Schlumberger, Halliburton, OJSC RITEK, OJSC Tatneft named after V.D. Shashina, Sakhalin Energy, Siemens, OJSC Surgutneftegaz, NPF Packer LLC.

Being one of the largest youth forums in the field of oil and gas education (annually more than 800 participants), the conference is becoming an effective platform for strengthening scientific and business cooperation between Russian and foreign specialists in order to implement promising projects in the field of training young personnel. Today, the oil and gas industry around the world is in dire need of new technologies to improve the efficiency of fields with unconventional reserves, at a late stage of development, deep-water fields, commissioning new fields, etc. This, in turn, undoubtedly emphasizes the relevance of such events.

This year, more than 1053 reports in thirteen sections were submitted to the conference. In addition to representatives from the Russian State University of Oil and Gas named after I.M. Gubkin, students and postgraduates from other universities in Russia took part in the conference:
Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov, universities and oil and gas faculties from Tyumen, Ufa, Ukhta, Almetyevsk, Samara, Volgograd, Tomsk, Kazan, Perm, Krasnodar, St. Petersburg, Tobolsk, Irkutsk, Yugorsk, Astrakhan, Krasnoyarsk, Belgorod, Moscow; foreign universities: Austria, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Belarus, as well as schoolchildren from Moscow, the Moscow region and other regions of Russia. The organization of the direction «School Scientific Society» has been held for the 4th year and has become a good tradition, which gives future students an opportunity to orient themselves in the choice of profession and university, to feel the «spirit» of higher education.

The conference was opened by the vice-rector for scientific work of the Russian State University of Oil and Gas named after I.M. Gubkina, professor Muradov A.V., who is one of the key figures in the development of youth science at the University. Alexander Vladimirovich noted the undoubted growth of scientific achievements of students and graduate students over the past year. Then, with a report dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of V.I. Vernadsky, the President of the National Institute for Global Security Research, Professor A.I.Smirnov spoke. The plenary session continued with a speech by Academician II Moiseev, which was devoted to the development and separation of petrochemistry. At the end of the meeting, timed to coincide with the opening of the conference, the head of the «Technologies in Energy» direction of Siemens Sviridov E.M. presented his report.

At the end of the grand opening, all participants and listeners of the conference attended the Halliburton press conference.

7. Humanities;
8. Economics and management in the oil and gas industry;
9. International energy business;
10. Legal support for the development of the oil and gas industry;
11. Presentation of scientific reports in English;
12. School Scientific Society;
13. Presentation of scientific works of graduate students.

The jury of the breakout sessions noted the high and high-quality level of performance of youth research works.

The winners and laureates received gifts and souvenirs with the symbols of the Gubkin University and the general sponsor of the conference, Schlumberger. In turn, the company Siemens noted the scientific work of one of the graduate students of Gubkin University with a certificate that allows you to complete an internship in the company with subsequent employment. It is worth noting that the company Packer awarded 6 of the most promising works in the field of the company's activities.

The Nedra Publishing House, in particular the General Information Partner of the conference - the editorial board of the Oil and Gas Journal Russia, presented the first-place winners with annual subscriptions to the magazine. In addition to the Nedra Publishing House, the information partners of the conference were some of the main publishing houses/editorial offices of the industry: Pipeline transport: theory and practice, Gas industry, Drilling and Oil, Oil industry, PravoTEK Group, etc.
